Our Rather Eventful Week...

This last week has been very eventful so to say. Starting last week, Macy had come down with a fever of 100-103 degrees which kept on throughout the remainder of the week. We went to the Dr on Thursday and everything seemed fine, but they wanted to do a urine test just to make sure she didn't have a UTI. The results from the office showed trace amounts of blood so they wanted to send it off to the lab just to make sure and the Dr would call me back as soon as the results came in. In the mean time the Dr gave us an antibiotic to start on if she didn't seem like she was improving. Later that night I went ahead and started her on it because I figured it would only help since she was feeling pretty miserable. The next day (Friday) I had packed up everything and was getting ready to go on our trip to Anaheim to go to a Mariners game. Of course Macy poops just before we are to leave and when I opened up the diaper all I saw was RED...A full diaper of blood... I was freaking out a little thinking thats quite a lot of blood for a little girl to lose. Nick came home right away, I was busy calling the Dr's office (which you have to leave a message and they will call you back whenever they feel like it) and I also called the nurse hotline for our insurance. I described everything to her and what medications she was on and she told me to go to the ER right away. We loaded up and were off to the hospital when we figured that we might stop by the Drs office since it was right across the street. I explained to them that I had left a message and we were just wondering if we could see a Dr about the situation before going to ER. The nurse practitioner was the only one there and she came out to the waiting room, we showed her the dirty diaper and immediately she said to go to the ER. She didn't ask us any questions or anything.
So, off we go to the ER...We explain to them the story, the medications, etc... They check her out, take XRays of her stomach and tell us that she is just fine and that sometimes children with high fevers can have bloody stools, and that we should just keep an eye on her. Ooookkk....So, 4 hours later and $125+ spent we decide that even though we werent going to make the game that night that we should still go have some fun in CA.
While driving I finally get the phone call from the Dr saying that he just go the message to call me...ER drs and I were trying to get a hold of him... The results from the urine test were not ready yet and he tells me that a side effect from the antibiotic is that it might turn your poop a reddish color. SO, youre saying that it probably wasn't even blood that I saw?!?? Not one Dr knew that that was a side effect of the antibiotic, NOR, did they test to see if it was blood. At this point Im a little irritated that we just spent all that money and wasted time, but I was relieved that Macy was ok.
We made it to Anaheim that night just in time to watch the Disneyland fireworks from Grandma Moonpies house. We figured that we would go to the game the next night instead. That night Nick was craving Thrifty ice cream so he drove all over trying to find a RiteAid that was open. And was successful.
The next day we took Dakota to the dog beach at Huntington Beach where she just loved it. She actually went in the water this time...followed Nick all the way in. Macy and I kept warm on the shore and watched all the other doggies run around. Nick wasn't feeling too hot so we decided to go back to grandmas and relax. Scratch the idea of going to this game too.
Later that night, Macy and I headed over to Downtown Disney to go walk around and return a sweatshirt for Aunti McKenna. Macy just loved and I mean LOVED all that there was to see. She was smiling and clapping the whole time. I can't wait to take her to Disneyland! So later that night Macy woke up around 2 crying and I picked her up and she was cold and sweaty. I took her temp and it had dropped down to 95. She was totally acting weird and not taking a bottle at all. She was trying to squirm out of my arms one minute, then acted like she was asleep the next. I again, was worried so I called the Dr on his cell phone at 2 in the morning. Turns out he had no idea what to think about it. I stayed up with her for 2 hours trying to warm her up and calm her down until she finally went to sleep. :( By the way, the lab test showed no sign if a UTI, so really there was no need to antibiotics anyway......
On Sunday, My Dad flew into CA from Seattle for work so he was able to meet up with us for lunch. It was nice to see him again, and I know that Macy loved seeing her Grandpa. :)
We made the trek home that evening, which was pretty uneventful until the freeway came to a hault! We slowly got around other cars to make it off the freeway to see the freeway closed ahead and a big fire burning off the side in some trees. We got off and starting driving on a highway, not knowing where we were going. Turned out we were on Route66 and it took us right around the mountain and back to the freeway. Thanks Route66!
On Monday I had my dreaded dermatology appt. I have had this wart on my foot for almost 2 years now, and its starting to hurt to walk on it. I decided that it was finally time to give in and let a professional at it. I had freaked myself out watching a video of a surgery to remove it. Turns out that the dr I went to doesn't believe in surgically removing it because it leaves a scar that you are walking on forever. Instead he freezes it off with liquid nitrogen. Whew! what a relief for me! I had 2 other little tiny warts on my hands so I had him freeze those too. And since I was there...I had him check some moles on my back. Turns out one looked abnormal and needed to be removed too. I just went ahead and had everything done at once. It wasnt so bad once it was over, but a few hours after my hands had 2 HUGE blisters on them and were killing me! I look like a mutant! Its been hard doing stuff with my hands so hopefully they will go away soon! Everything else is just fine. I just have to go back every month and refreeze my foot until that one is gone. Pretty Gross, I know......
Anyways, then yesterday my car died in the Kohls parking lot and we were stranded for a little while until Nick got there. I was thinking for sure it was going to be something big, but turns out it just needed a new battery. All fixed.
Whew! That was our past week. Im hoping that I can get the rest of my house in order and get back to normal here soon.
